Vidyo Wins 2011 Mobility Award at CTIA for Outstanding Mobile Video Conferencing and Collaboration Solution

Mar 23, 2011

CTIA- LAS VEGAS – March 23, 2011 – Vidyo®, Inc., the first company to deliver personal telepresence, today announced that it is the recipient of the MobileTrax Mobility Award for Enterprise Mobility/ Mobile Video Conferencing for delivering video communications and collaboration on mobile devices using a differentiated architecture that is available today through Service Providers. Vidyo was named last night at the annual MobileTrax Wireless Innovators Dinner that honors excellence within the mobile computing and wireless data communications industry over the past year.  The event, held at the Rosen Centre in Orlando, Florida, was attended by senior executives representing wireless operators, handset makers, wireless device manufacturers, software and service providers, venture capitalists, investment bankers, industry analysts and select members of the press.

“The Mobility Awards have honored the brightest innovators in mobile computing and wireless data communications products and services for the past 16 years,” said J. Gerry Purdy, Ph.D., Principal Analyst with MobileTrax LLC. “This accolade exemplifies Vidyo’s extensive innovation and significant contribution to the progress of the mobility industry. Vidyo is a pioneer in video communications and collaboration, and is now providing enterprises with ‘next-generation’ video conferencing mobility solutions that align with today’s mobility needs.”

“The Mobility Award for Enterprise Mobility /Mobile Video Conferencing is especially meaningful because Vidyo has achieved what others in our industry have tried to do for decades– the delivery of natural video communications with unprecedented error resiliency, low latency and rate matching enabling exceptional-quality video to work over the Internet, LTE, 3G and 4G networks,” said Ofer Shapiro, Vidyo CEO and co-founder.    “Vidyo was first to recognize the importance of mobile video communications and collaboration and the first to deliver the needed solutions. As mobile devices become more powerful and business-critical to the Enterprise eco system, our video communications and collaboration platform will enable partners to build and deliver applications that were not available before, since Vidyo is the most cost-effective, scalable, interoperable and versatile solution in the industry. We are honored to be recognized for our accomplishments, and will continue to push hard to lead this market in technological innovation.”

Last week, Vidyo was able to use its SDK to enable the Apple iPad 2 to participate in high-definition 720p multipoint video conferencing within hours of general availability of the device. Vidyo was demonstrated as the first TV quality multipoint conference on a smart phone during the keynote address at CES 2010. Since then, the Vidyo platform has expanded to support the iPad, iPhone 4, iPod, Samsung Galaxy Tab and Galaxy S smart phone, the Google Nexus S, multiple other Android phones and tablets, and now the iPad 2, XOOM and Atrix.  Vidyo’s communication and collaboration platform was licensed last year for the first commercially available mobile multipoint video conferencing service available on any telecom carrier network.
